Stop switching between apps. Loop brings your content, your team, and your work together — live, in sync, and embedded wherever you already work in Microsoft 365.
What Is Microsoft Loop?
If you’re a regular Microsoft 365 user, you know the drill — switching between Teams, Outlook, OneNote, and Planner just to keep one project moving. Microsoft Loop was built to fix exactly that. It’s a collaborative workspace that lets you create live, interactive content that stays in sync across every app in your Microsoft 365 environment.
Think of Loop as a central hub where content doesn’t live in one place and get copied elsewhere — it exists everywhere at once. Update a task list in Teams, and it updates instantly in Outlook. Capture notes in a meeting, and they’re already waiting in your workspace when you finish. That’s the Loop difference.
Loop is built around three core elements:
Components
Live, interactive building blocks — task lists, tables, bullet points, voting tables — that can be embedded across Teams, Outlook, Word, and more. Edit in one place, updated everywhere.
Pages
Flexible canvases where you combine components, links, files, and ideas into a collaborative workspace. Perfect for project briefs, meeting agendas, and brainstorming sessions.
Workspaces
Shared environments where teams organise multiple pages and components for a project. A single home for everything related to a piece of work — across the whole team.
5 Ways to Supercharge Your Productivity with Loop
Teams Collaboration
Create a Loop component — a task list, a table, a bullet list — directly inside a Teams chat or channel. Your team members can see it, update it, and check off tasks without ever leaving the conversation. No separate to-do apps. No “which version is current?” confusion. Everyone works on the same live component, and changes appear in real time for all participants.
Meeting notes in Teams are now powered by Loop — participants can co-author agendas, capture key decisions, and assign action items during the meeting itself. Notes stay synchronised for everyone and remain accessible after the meeting in the Recap tab.
Outlook Integration
Embed a Loop component directly into an Outlook email — a bulleted list, a table, a checklist — and your recipients can edit it right there within the message thread. No attachments, no reply chains trying to track the latest version, no copying content between emails. The component stays live, and everyone’s edits are visible to all recipients in real time.
This is particularly powerful for gathering feedback, tracking project updates, or running a quick team poll without needing to spin up a separate form or document.
Brainstorming and Ideation
Loop pages provide a blank canvas for team brainstorming. Add notes, images, links, and components — and because everything is live, every team member sees changes as they happen. There’s no waiting for someone to share an updated document or consolidate inputs from different sources. Ideas build on each other in real time, creating a genuinely collaborative creative environment.
With Copilot integration (where licensed), you can even prompt Loop to help organise and structure brainstorming outputs into a coherent plan automatically.
Meeting Notes and Action Items
Create a live Loop table at the start of a meeting to capture notes, decisions, and action items as the discussion progresses. When the meeting ends, the component is already shared — no need to write up notes and distribute them afterwards. Attendees can continue adding to or updating the component after the meeting, and tasks created in Loop notes can connect directly with Microsoft Planner and To Do.
Project Planning and Tracking
Loop components like tables and task lists are well-suited to project management. Build a visual plan with tasks, assignees, and deadlines in a Loop workspace. As team members update their progress — from within Teams, Outlook, or Loop itself — the component reflects those changes everywhere it’s been shared. Everyone always has the current picture without needing to chase updates or maintain a separate tracker.
Licensing — What Do You Need?
Microsoft Loop is included in the following Microsoft 365 plans at no additional cost:
Included in: Microsoft 365 Business Basic, Business Standard, Business Premium, Microsoft 365 E3, E5, F1, and F3. Loop components in Teams and Outlook are available across most commercial M365 plans. The full Loop app at loop.microsoft.com requires a qualifying Microsoft 365 subscription. Copilot-assisted features require a separate Microsoft 365 Copilot licence.
